Book Reports
The third graders spend time throughout the year creating book reports based on different genres. We start off the year making puppets or dolls in our fairy tale/ tall tale unit. In December, the students spend time making mobiles for a realistic fiction book of their choice. In January, third graders present posters showing some interesting information they learned from a collection of non-fiction books. In the beginning of March, we share a diorama of a Fantasy book we enjoyed. Mid April, we enjoy biographies by sharing a timeline of a famous person and dress up like them. We also invite our parents in for a lemonade social! Our last book report is a free choice of book and students create and design a cereal box based on the story they read.
Students can choose books from the classroom library, the school library or a book from home. I like to approve them before they get started though. I do this to make sure it fits the genre and it is at the student's reading level.

So much fun!
Gingerbread Houses! One of the favorite memories of third grade is making gingerbread houses in December. Students love to decorate and share their masterpieces!... And many other fun memories of this year!
